BLIND say Thank You Blind Lord Low and blind opera singer Denise Leigh were among those who thanked Rotarians for their help for during an evening reception in the River Room of the House of Lords. More than 40 Rotarians had the pleasure of meeting blind people who have overcome the difficulties of blindness to become inspirational examples to us all. 
Support for Namibia President Elect, John Thompson, presents a cheque for 250 euros to the District Governor of Kassel. Five Rotary clubs attended a Summer Fest consisting of an excellent eat as much as you want barbeque and buffe in a beautiful setting with lots of games and a Tombola. The money goes towards the District Governor's Namibian Orphanage  project.
France Capture Trophy French Rotarians from Ardres 'wiped the floor' with their English competitors by winning all the 'Jeux sans Frontiers'  games bar one, the 'Deck Chair' game. Guy Tetelan was particularly proficient in the Pea game. Not even the darts could save us from complete domination this year. We have already started training for the return match next year.
Supporting our Troops Brian Pretty of Eastbourne Sovereign Rotary Club started the ball rolling by sending the first consignment of sweets to our Troops on the Front Line. When navy personnel fighting on the front line were asked what they wanted as a treat, little did we expect the answer to be sweets. They also would like books - see below....
